Room Details

Pousada BGK is the epitome of the Barra Grande lifestyle. This rustic-chic haven fronts right onto the beach and has its own kite school. There’s also the impressive swimming pool and glorious beachfront restaurant. This is breezy beachfront living at its best.

Pousada BGK’s unassuming reception building is one of the first things you’ll see when you arrive in Barra Grande’s main strip. From here, timber-decked pathways snake their way through the pousada’s sprawling, sandy gardens, making their way past chalets, houses and bungalows towards the pool, restaurant and beach.

Wining and dining

BGK Barra Grande’s beachfront bar and restaurant is easily one of the best along the Barra Grande shoreline. Knotted driftwood has been turned into an impressive archway, framing the glorious ocean views, making it a must for Instagrammers. Views of the sea and the kitesurfers will keep you entertained for hours as you sip cool caipirinhas and enjoy a long lazy lunch. The menu includes Brazilian dishes and excellent seafood plates.

Breakfast is served in a dedicated outdoor dining room, which has a thatched roof and sometimes receives the occasional monkey visitor. The buffet breakfast is varied and comprehensive – eggs, tapioca, freshly baked cakes and breads, fruits, juices, yoghurt… Just glorious.

If you’re driving, there’s plenty of parking on site. To make things a little easier, the reception staff speak English too.

Outdoor activities

If you’re staying for a few days, be sure to keep one day aside just for enjoying the pool. Surrounded by charming bungalows and towering palm trees, the pool is actually two pools connected by a narrow channel which passes beneath a wooden bridge. The design is incredibly charming. There’s a poolside bar, so you don’t need to go far to grab a cocktail or a beer. Soak up some rays on a sunlounger or find a shaded spot under a tree. Pure bliss.

This pousada caters well for kitesurfing enthusiasts. Rent a stand-up paddle board or a kayak, or even some kitesurfing equipment to get out there and tame the winds and waves.

Inside the accommodation at BGK Barra Grande

The best accommodation are the bungalows, particularly those which face the sea. The 2-storey beachfront luxury (luxo frente mar) bungalow has the best view in town, thanks to its beachfront location and its large glass windows overlooking the sea. There’s a large balcony, as well as a private outdoor jacuzzi to enjoy.

There are 5 more charming bungalows which also face the beach. Expect with timber floors, balconies with hammocks and charming gardens with plenty of privacy.

There are 9 other bungalows set a little further back from the beach, some overlooking the pool, others with views of the pousada’s gardens. Avoid the poolside bungalows if you want peace and privacy. Kids splashing about can get a bit noisy at times!

Smaller groups may opt for a chalet – there are 5 to choose from, 3 made from timber, 2 made from masonry. Larger groups can stay in the 3-bedroom kite house or the 2-bedroom casa redonda (round house).

The pousada’s large footprint means that even with 22 different accommodations to choose from, everything feels spread out and tranquil.

Chalets start at R$368 per night and bungalows from R$616 per night, with a 3-night minimum stay.
