Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais

Minas Gerais

Minas Gerais is best known for its colonial era towns, which hark back to the region’s gold rush period during the 18th century. It boasts more UNESCO World Heritage Sites than any other Brazilian state. Your journey will begin in Minas Gerais’ capital city, Belo Horizonte. We recommend you rent a car, so you have the freedom to enjoy the state’s hidden gems at your own pace. Expect charming towns draped across mountainous landscapes with cobblestoned streets, Baroque churches and impressive mansions.
