Avenida Beira Mar, Florianópolis, SC

Santa Catarina

Santa Catarina is a curious little corner of Brazil. Not only is the capital city on an island, but it also has several cities that feel particularly European, due to the immigration during the late 19th century.

Florianópolis

Mirante do Morro da Cruz, Florianópolis

Florianópolis, also known as Floripa, is the second largest city in Santa Catarina. It may be the state’s capital, but its laid-back vibe, forested mountains and sandy beaches make it a popular place for tourists. It’s one of the safest cities in Brazil and the quality of life here is high.

Imbituba

Praia do Rosa, Imbituba

Located in the south of the state, this city offers Atlantic forest and white sand beaches, ideal for surfing and whale watching.

Blumenau and Pomerode

Blumenau, Santa Catarina

The city of Blumenau, and the nearby village of Pomerode, both lie in the verdant Itajaí valley. They have strong German influences in terms of their architecture and cuisine, due to the influx of immigrants from Germany, particularly during the late 19th century. Blumenau is home to the one of the largest Oktoberfest festivals to be found outside of Europe.
