Eco Vila Beija Flor is tucked away near João Fernandes beach, just a 15-minute drive from Rua das Pedras, the bustling main street of Búzios. This is an ideal neighbourhood if you’re looking for a peaceful part of the peninsula, surrounded by rolling hills, steep cliffs, sea views and upscale mansions.

The property has a shared living space for guests, as well as a striking pool deck with sea views. Décor is modern and chic, with high ceilings, exposed timber beams, stone walls and evocative lighting to set the mood.

While a decadent breakfast is something Brazilian pousadas do beautifully, hosts Mauro and Rosane also offer afternoon tea to their guests, and their tasty array of morsels change each day – a very nice touch.

Eco Vila Beija Flor offers two studios. Studio Ipe opens out onto the garden and is modern and cosy, with a large double bed. Studio Orquidea is spacious, and comes with a complete kitchen and an outdoor courtyard, ideal for al fresco dining. It also has a master bedroom with its own private outdoor deck with views across tree tops, out to sea.

There are also three individually decorated suites, all of which have water views. Some open out onto the garden and pool area, others have spacious balconies or private stone-walled courtyards. The master suite has a bathtub, which is a rare treat in Brazil.

Rooms start at R$420 per night, with a 2-night minimum.
